Hair transplants have been available for decades but have traditionally required invasive surgery. Before FUE, the only option surgeons had was to excise a strip of skin from the back of your scalp to harvest the follicles – leaving a linear scar. Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is an advance on this technology that allows our hair transplant surgeon to harvest individual follicles from your scalp one-at-a-time with tiny extractions during your FUE hair transplants in NYC. FUE hair transplants avoid the linear scar that comes with traditional strip-harvesting hair transplants, while still providing the remarkable benefits: a more youthful, full, and attractive hairline.

What is FUE?

FUE stands for follicular unit extraction and is a specialized technique for harvesting donor follicles for a hair transplant procedure. FUE uses tiny (1 millimeter or less) circular incisions to extract individual follicles. Instead of the horizontal scar typical with other methods, FUE hair transplants leave only tiny scars that are virtually invisible.

Dr. Pearlman's FUE hair transplants in New York have the advantage of being minimally invasive, providing many of the advantages of traditional hair transplants without some of the drawbacks.

FUE Hair Transplants NYC

The benefits of FUE

Some of the key benefits of FUE hair transplants include:

  • Minimally invasive procedure
  • No scalpel or long incision
  • Minimal scarring
  • Natural-looking and effective results
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Little downtime

Am I a candidate?

The best candidates for an FUE hair transplant are those who:

  • Desire a restored and more youthful hairline
  • Would prefer to avoid a more invasive procedure
  • Have (or are willing to have) a short haircut for a time
  • Are in good general health

Results

With the first two to three weeks, you can expect to see your newly transplanted hair begin to shed, which indicates that it's been fully re-incorporated into your scalp. It usually takes three to four months before you see the new hair really begin to grow, and it can take up to a year before the hair is fully grown in.

The good news: your results can last ten years or more! Furthermore, if you continue to experience continued hair loss over time, many patients receive second or third transplants to maintain their new and improved look.

OFFICE GUIDELINES REGARDING COVID-19

As a valued patient at Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery, we sincerely appreciate your trust in our team. The health and safety of our patients and staff is our top priority. Our in-office safety policies are aligned with the latest guidelines issued by the CDC and local government officials related to COVID-19.

For all patients at Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery,

  • Patients must arrive wearing their own face masks, and continue to wear them in office until taken into the exam room, and sanitize their hands upon arrival.
  • Patients will be required to have their temperature taken using our contact-less scanner.
  • A COVID-19 Disclosure Consent must be completed during check-in.
  • Social distancing is seen as the most effective way of slowing the spread of the virus causing COVID-19. Patients should avoid close contact, minimize interaction, and put distance between themselves and other patients within the office.
  • Patients should attend to their appointments alone. Accompanying guests, friends or family members must wait outside the office until after the appointment is finished.
  • Due to the space of our Exam Rooms, we encourage our minor patients to bring only one parent or guardian to attend with them during the appointment.
  • Credit cards will be asked to be reserved on file to reduce handling of payments.
  • Patients should arrive only during their scheduled appointment time. Arriving too early will not allow you to be seen sooner, and arriving late may result in re-scheduling the appointment.
  • Pets are not permitted into the office.

For new patients, a valid photo ID must submitted and online intake forms must be completed no later than the day before the scheduled appointment. If the intake forms are not completed by then, the appointment is subject to cancellation.
