The Benefits of Sculptra in New York City

Sculptra injectables in bottles

Over the past decade, we have taken a new look at facial aging. Faces don’t just droop and get wrinkles, often they lose volume. Some patients really don’t need facelifts and others need both volume replacement and lifting. Until Sculptra – as well as some of the other longer lasting facial fillers such as Radiesse, Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus – fat liposculpture, was the best option.

Though Sculptra has been around for years to treat facial aging, it was recently FDA-approved for cosmetic use to treat “shallow to deep smile lines (nasolabial fold), contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles.” However, many facial plastic surgeons have already been using it for years as “off label” for cosmetic treatment of the face.

Sculptra in New York City: The Highlights

Non-invasive treatment

As an injectable, Sculptra is a quick treatment with immediate results. The whole treatment can be completed in as little as 30 minutes and doesn’t require any recovery time!

Long-lasting results

After three treatments, The results from Sculptra can last 2 or more years. Further, because Sculptra stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, you’ll see your results continue to improve over time.

Combines easily with other treatments

One of the greatest benefits of injectables like Sculptra is how easily they can be combined with other facial treatments to provide fuller facial rejuvenation. We can combine Sculptra with other facial fillers, Botox, or laser resurfacing based on the changes you’d like to see!

What is Sculptra in New York City?

Scultpra is a cosmetic injectable similar to facial fillers and neurotoxins like Botox. It uses poly-L-lactic acid to rebuild your skin from the inside out.

How does Sculptra work?

Your skin is built from several layers and its 2 main building blocks are collagen and elastin. These proteins exist in the dermal layer and can’t be reached with topical, surface level treatments.

As we age our body stops producing collagen, resulting in a loss of volume in the lower layers of your skin. This can cause the skin to droop, sag, and create a gaunt appearance. Sculptra temporarily fills in the areas when injected and then stimulates the production of collagen. More collagen leads to firmer, fuller, younger looking skin.

Why Sculptra instead of fat liposculpture?

Fat rejuvenation is a surgical procedure that comes with prolonged healing and downtime, and some patients only retain 40 to 70% of the injected fat on average, so results are often unpredictable. If we need to go back and inject more fat, it requires another semi-major procedure. You might also be one of the rare patients in whom 100% of the fat lasts, resulting in an over-filled face.

Sculptra, a non-invasive injectable, can treat volume loss precisely and effectively in just 2 to 3 treatments with no operating room, sedation, or significant recovery required.

Why Sculptra instead of other fillers?

This is really a choice to be decided upon between physician and patient. As mentioned above, Sculptra may require 2 to 3 treatments a month apart, lasting an average of two years before it starts to slowly go away. No other fillers last as long. Sculptra is also best for patients who need full face re-volumization.

So, do you want to have this “in and out” treatment with little to no downtime and maybe a tweak in one and two months, or get treatments every 6 to 9 months with other fillers, which can be costly over time? Though Sculptra is more expensive, it really doesn’t cost more than shorter-lasting fillers over time.
