Facial Implants

Well-defined, angled facial features are considered a sign of beauty. Facial implants can augment the facial skeleton and enhance one’s attractiveness.

Chin Implant

A receding chin can be augmented with a chin implant. Minor enhancement of the chin may balance the rest of the face. As a matter of fact, almost 20% of people desiring rhinoplasty can be helped by a chin implant as well. A receding chin can accentuate one's nose. Placing an implant will restore facial balance and make the nose fit even better. Chin implants are placed through a tiny incision under the chin. This scar is barely visible. Since natural facial balance is created, Chin Implants rarely are detectable by your peers.

Dr. Pearlman will select one of several chin implant designs that will best improve not only your profile but will fill out a narrow chin as well. Numerous sizes as well as computer imaging will aid in this selection. Other surgical alternatives, such as altering your own jaw to avoid using an implant will be discussed during the consultation.

Cheek Implants

High cheekbones can be created with malar/cheek implants. Flattened cheekbones can be enhanced to create a more angular, dramatic look to the face. These implants are placed through the mouth. A number of anatomically matched shapes and sizes are available to give the correct amount of augmentation.

Sub-malar Implants

A hollow mid-face, the area below the cheekbones and above the "nasolabial" folds (the folds from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth) can give you a gaunt drawn look. This comes from loss of the baby fat from your cheeks as you age. This area can be rejuvenated with sub-malar implants. Sub-malar implants can also help elevate deep nasolabial folds. Combined malar-submalar implants will both accentuate your cheekbones and restore youthful fullness to the midface.

Jaw Angle Implants

Narrow jaws can be enhanced by "jaw angle" implants. A more balanced face can be created for patients without facial definition. These are often placed in conjunction with a chin implant to enhance a small jaw.

What are Facial Implants?

Facial Implants are made of a number of inert materials that do not cause any reactions by the body. Implants are inserted through the mouth or through natural creases, so that they are undetectable by the human eye. Implant materials are safe. The most commonly used implants are Silastic, Gortex and Porus Polyethylene (Teflon). Each has been used for decades in facial and other surgery, safely. None of these products create tissue reactions or are rejected by the body. The most appropriate implant will be selected at the time of your consultation.
