The Details about Rhinoplasty
You may have hear that the nose is broken during rhinoplasty surgery, but it’s not like breaking an arm or leg, and it is no t necessary in every case. “This misconception goes back 20 yrs to when we didn’t use general anesthesia as much and the patient could hear what was happening during surgery.”
Can You Achieve the Perfect Nose?
Rhinoplasty has come a long way in recent decades, and the ski-slope profile and pinched tip are no longer the aesthetic ideal. “There’s been a backlash against overdone noses, and today’s doctors and patients want more natural-looking results.”
Beyond Just Aesthetics
Rhinoplasty is about more than aesthetics; nose surgery is used to restore normal function, as well. “In addition to creating a nose that is balanced with the rest of the face, we also want a nose that works,” explains Dr. Pearlman. Rhinoplasty is used to correct structural abnormalities like a deviated septum, which can lead to breathing problems, chronic stuffiness, post-nasal drip and even snoring.
